Abdoulaye during his visit to the Basque Country in July/2006

Thanks to the support of an anonymous group of friends from the Basque Country, the building of the Basque-Dogon Friendship School (L'ecole de l'amitié) began in June 2006. A magnificent effort by local people enabled the school, at the foot of the Bandiagara Fault in the village of Yabatalou, to be completed that same year. It was opened in December 2006.

Every single stone raised is a token of the affection for the people of Yabatalou that each and every one of that group has shown in so many different ways. This bond of love between the Basque Country and Dogon Country will remain with us always.
